Stanley and Danaher (almost identical in sales revenue at about $28 billion each) are the biggest followed by Snap-On.' 'There are three MAJOR players in the USA mechanics tool business: Stanley, Danaher, and Snap-On. There are four tool-brand players in the business of selling to US auto mechanics through 'tool truck' dealers: Snap-On, Mac, MATCO, and Cornwell. Guys will always argue which is best, but this works well for me. You just have to search for them and purchase the one that works best for the job at hand. I have always felt that the individual tool companies each have some products that are superior for particular tasks. My short swivel comfort grip 3/8' is a very versitile unit and the best tool for many jobs. That includes my heavy abuse with 3' cheater bars and the like.
Have not yet had a ratchet mechanism failure or handle failure on one of those. I also love the SK tuff 1 fine tooth ratchets. Been going for roughly 10 years of professional auto and truck repair use with no failure. When I bought mine it was half the price of the snap on. the fine tooth head is accurate and very comfortable to use. I have a 1/4' drive version and grab it over my snapons all the time. I'll give another vote for the Facom palm control ratchet.
